Great Wall of China & Olympics 2008

Well, today was such a neat experience. Something I never thought I would ever see...The Great Wall of China! It was undescribable and so big. We have been touring with 3 other families through our adoption agency and this has really helped to have other people to relate to while going places. Our guide, Joy, who is Chinese has been so great at helping us know where to go what to do and such. So glad we have her. She is amazing how she speaks Chinese one minute and then also speaks English to us very well, too. We did have some Chinese food for a late lunch today. I normally love Chinese food, but this was very different than in the U.S. My stomach had a time with taking in all the new smells and tastes and did not like it very well. But, it was neat being able to taste some new things. We also visited where the Bejing 2008 Olympics was today. It was so cool to see that and how big it was. I am posting pictures of it as well as the Great Wall. Tomorrow we will go to the Forbidden City, Tiannemen Square, and a Acrobatic Show. So, it will be a full day. Then early the next day, we will fly out to Kunming where Hannah is and will get her in the afternoon. Starting to get nervous about that now, but excited! Thanks for all the comments and e-mails from everyone. We are reading all of them and appreciate hearing from you.

SO COOL!!!! I'm jealous!!! I bet the Great Wall was an incredible sight. So...do I take it that Mike didn't try the chinese food? Did he find a McDonalds? Glad to hear that you have an incredible guide....it makes the experience even greater! You are probably sleeping now since it is 1 AM. Still in awe that we actually talked to you on Skype that easily and it was so clear when you are halfway around the world. Troy and I are praying today specifically for Hannah that God would prepare her heart to meet her new parents! We can't wait to see her! Love you guys!

Michelle,

My stomach didn't like Chinese food very well, either. Just a heads up to get your western food fix in Beijing because your province may not be as westernized. Hit McDonald's and order from Pizza Hut. We had almost no western food options in our province and I got pretty tired of Chinese food after a few days. Guangzhou will have better options when you get there.

Mike & Michelle, You are so lucky to have other people to travel with. We didn't have that at all when we went to Russia. In fact, we never saw any American's while we were in Russia. It was more than a bit of culture shock. But the food was awesome. Sorry to hear about the bad chineese food.

Michelle, I learned today that your Mom works at the hospital as Jim and I were there. There was a whole crowd of people around your Mom's computer when she saw that you had posted this message. It was like a big party!

Hope things are going well. Enjoy it and don't forget to bring back some of that Chineese heritage for Hannah. I got busy and didn't really bring enough for Regan. My prayer tonight is that you will all bond quickly when you meet. Love you guys!

Wow! As soon as we get up in the morning, we run to the computer to see what you guys have experienced. That Forbidden City area looks huge, and straight out of the geography books. Bet that Pizza Hut pizza tasted reaalllll good, Ha! Dean and I have experienced the squatty potty in Europe, except ours was just a hole with no margin for error. I had to practice my markmanship. lol We cannot wait for tomorrow to see our new family member. Liv and Ava are staring at the pictures on the blog and anxiously awaiting some good play time. Hey Guys!! Well, I tried posting this earlier, but apparently I did something wrong...imagine that! LOL
Anyways....I am so excited for you guys! It is so fun to be able to share your journey leading up to the big day....GOTCHA DAY!! Oh, man! I can't contain my excitement for you guys. I am thinking about you both constantly!! Too bad about the food having such adverse effects..lol..guess I will have to remember to pack lots of energy bars...ha! We are praying for you guys and for Hannah! Praying that God will help her bond with you both very quickly and that He will calm her heart and give her a peace about you. That she will feel your love and feel safe with you and that He will speak to her heart that she is "home". Love you guys! Marcella and Bruce
